Siemens giant offshore vessels to cut O&M costs in off-shore wind

The flagship of a fleet of giant service offshore vessels (SOVs) being built to undertake  O&M  for Siemens at European offshore wind installations has started its first assignment at Dong Energy’s Westermost Rough off northeast England.

Siemens aims to combine SOVs with remote diagnostics and analytics to reduce O&M costs of offshore wind installations by 20-30% from current projections.
