I got very excited today as someone shared on LinkedIn a video of a Steve Jobs’ quote that I have been using for the past 5 years or so.

For me, one of the amazing business lessons has been to watch how big players with clever people have been getting excited by technology and work back to use cases. It started with the Internet of Things, Augmented Reality, Industrie 4.0 and now at the focus is Artificial Intelligence. After the pundits get all excited and visionary, they wonder why the impact is disappointing?

In truth these technologies are game-changers, but only if you start looking for where the customer value is, then work back to your technology solution. Not the other way round, which is why I find Steve Job’s quote so powerful.

Billions of dollars have been spent by technology giants, and thus far by all reports, the return has been disappointing. If you are one of those business people, then this 1-minute video clip of Steve Jobs talking about his own approach to technology might just save you a hell of a lot of money, or hopefully give you a huge return.
